Privacy Policy

The short version

Third Wheel picks a restaurant for you. To do that well, we use your location to find nearby spots and, if you choose, the photos you post to the social feed. We don't sell your data. You can spin without an account.

What we collect

• Location. When you set your location or let the app find restaurants near you, we use your device location to search for places within your chosen radius. We don't store your live location; your saved location label is kept on your device.
• Photos you post. If you share a photo of your meal on the feed, the image is uploaded and stored so other members can see it. Photos are screened automatically for explicit content before they post.
• Device-stored preferences. Your dislikes, minimum rating filter, and saved location live in your device's local storage. They never leave your device.
• Account info. If you sign in, we store your email address to identify your account and feed posts.
• Usage data. We log spins, picks, and app usage (such as which areas are popular) to improve recommendations and cache coverage. This is aggregated and not linked to your identity.

How we use it

• To find and show you restaurants near your location.
• To display photos and posts you choose to share on the feed.
• To improve which restaurants we surface and keep our cache fresh.
• To moderate user-generated content and act on reports.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data to anyone.
• We don't use your data to track you across other apps or websites.
• We don't share your location with advertisers.

Third parties

We use mapping services to find restaurants and photos, a cloud backend to store the restaurant cache and feed, and automated image screening to keep the feed safe. These providers process data only to deliver those features for us.

Your choices

• You can spin and use the app without creating an account.
• You can deny location access and enter a place name instead.
• You can delete your feed posts at any time.
• You can clear your dislikes and preferences from the Profile tab.
